SPECIALITY GRADE, SINGLE ORIGIN ESPRESSO

SPECIALITY GRADE, SINGLE ORIGIN ESPRESSO

SOURCING

WE SOURCE OUR COFFEE DIRECT FROM GROWERS IN COLOMBIA.

Our coffee is sourced in Colombia where it is cultivated by the Arhuaco tribal group – Chibchan speaking people and descendants of the Tairona culture, who live and work in the mountains of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.

As subsistence farmers whose only income is from coffee, the Arhuaco work at scale with limited resources.

Cafe Anei is an organisation made up of 700 coffee producing families belonging to 4 indigenous communities including the Arhuacos and together with our roasters (Clifton Coffee Roasters), we have developed a strong relationship with Cafe Anei. Through this unique partnership we are able to deliver incredible espresso straight from β€œThe Heart of the World” as well as have opportunities to give back to our espresso’s origin and help fund development projects within Arhuaco community.

GRADING

WE TAKE PRIDE IN SERVING β€œSPECIALITY GRADE” COFFEE – THIS MEANS OUR FLAVOURS ARE SUBTLE AND OUR CUP MORE BALANCED.

Any coffee graded 80 and above is considered a speciality coffee, and with an SCA cupping score (internationally recognised for assessing coffee flavour characteristics and quality) of 84-84.5 our coffee is head and shoulders above what other cafes are serving, within our sector.

ROASTING

OUR COFFEE IS ETHICALLY ROASTED LOCALLY BY OUR PARTNERS.

Passionate about serving delicious coffee, we have partnered with local company, Clifton Coffee Roasters, who share our vision of what a great cup of coffee should be.

Expertly skilled in the field of speciality coffee, the team perfectly roast our coffee beans to their full potential, evaluating and testing small batches to ensure they exude exceptional flavours. The coffee is then carefully upscaled and quality assessed before reaching our Baristas.

FLAVOUR

SOURCED FROM THE SIERRA NEVADA REGION OF COLOMBIA, OUR COFFEE IS BOLD AND VIBRANT WITH WELL-ROUNDED NOTES OF CHOCOLATE, CARAMEL AND HAZELNUT.

We have partnered with Clifton Coffee Roasters to bring you Anei Espresso, an exclusive Colombian espresso produced by Cafe Anei – a bold and vibrant coffee with well-rounded notes of chocolate, caramel and hazelnut that has been profiled to taste.

PERFECTLY SERVED

WE UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF HAVING THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT AND TRAINING TO PRODUCE AN UNFORGETTABLE CUP OF COFFEE.

From the beginning, we have invested in high-quality coffee machines, grinders and accessories to make sure the wonderful flavours of our coffee are not lost during serving and that there is consistency with each shot.

Our expert Baristas play an important role in the process and are trained in-house to be confident and fully equipped to serve the best cup of coffee.

TRANSPARENCY & TRACEABILITY

WE KNOW THE EXACT STORY OF OUR COFFEE AND CAN TRACK ITS JOURNEY THROUGH EVERY STEP.

The way we source coffee is fundamental to our identity and we visit the farms in Colombia in person to see how our coffee is grown and picked. It is vital to us that conditions are appropriate for coffee production and that any unethical sourcing practices highlighted. It is also important for us to build a rapport with the farmers and build long term relationships. We have an excellent relationship with Keynote Coffee who assist us with importing from Colombia to the UK.
